ADULT Mental Health First Aid ( 2 day course) - Face to Face
2-day Full certification course to become a certified Mental Health First Aider for Adult Mental Health
What will I learn?
Our two day Adult MHFA course is an internationally recognised course. After taking it, you will be able to:
- Recognise the symptoms of mental health issues
- Provide initial help
- Guide a person towards appropriate professional help
MHFA won’t teach you how to be a therapist, but once you’ve completed the two day course you will be able to say you’re a Mental Health First Aider.
- Mental Health First Aid, mental health, and depression
- Depression (cont.) and suicidal crisis
- Anxiety, personality disorders, eating disorders and self harm
- Psychosis, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder
In each section you’ll learn how to:
- Spot the early signs of a mental health issue
- Feel confident helping someone experiencing a mental health issue
- Provide help on a first aid basis
- Help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others
- Help stop a mental health issue from getting worse
- Help someone recover faster
- Guide someone towards the right support
- Reduce the stigma of mental health issues.
How will I learn?
The Adult MHFA course takes place over two full days.
The sessions will be a mix of presentations, discussions, and group work activities. Our Education 4 Health instructors provide a safe learning environment and are trained to support you throughout the whole course. If you don’t feel comfortable joining in certain parts, then there is no pressure to.
Due to some of the sensitive subjects of our courses, we limit numbers to 16 people. We want everyone to feel safe and our instructors can help if people find some parts particularly difficult.
Everyone who attends the course will receive a copy of the MHFA manual and workbook, which are both excellent support resources. When you have completed the course you will receive a certificate to confirm that you are a trained Mental Health First Aider.

This 2 day course has a recommended price of £300 (as set by MHFA England).
We offer this at a subsidised cost of £250, including manuals, workbooks, lunch and refreshments, thanks to support from the Education 4 Health Benevolent Fund.

This new live course is based on the content from the Adult MHFA Two Day course, has the same learning outcomes and on completion learners will receive a Mental Health First Aid certificate.
The online Mental Health First Aid is made up of both individual learning activities and a series of live sessions hosted on our new MHFA England Online Learning Hub. Individual learning will be based on a combination of videos, workbook activities and reading. The live sessions are led by your approved MHFA England Instructor, Jane Nathan, who has a wide range of experience in the area.
After taking this course, you will be able to:

What will I learn?
Full two day course, qualifying participants to be Certified Youth Mental Health First Aiders.
Mental Health First Aid is an educational course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help a young person who may be experiencing a mental health issue. In the same way as we learn physical first aid, Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health.
